There is nothing I love more than paper towels, and to be quite honest, I think I am addicted; the main issue for me is how to keep things more environmentally sustainable because let’s face it, paper towels can leave a sizable footprint.
I have started to buy Seventh Generation paper towels because they are not too expensive, and they are far more environmentally sustainable than the mainstream brands. But what is it that makes them more environmentally sustainable than the others?
A Quality Paper Towel that is Far More Environmentally Sustainable than its Competitors
While it is true that using even Seventh Generation paper towels still leaves a carbon footprint, so to speak, here is some interesting information. The towels are more absorbent than they have been previously, and they are from 100% recycled paper, with a minimum of that being 50% post-consumer; they are whitened without chemicals, and are free of fragrances and dyes. One of the things I appreciate about this brand is that they work hard to create a quality paper towel that is also far more environmentally sustainable than its competitors. In fact, I am guilty of buying mainstream paper towels recently because I was at a major grocery store and they were cheap. This is one of the things with cheap products. Ironically, the cheaper it gets, the worse it probably is for the planet.
If everyone switched to Seventh Generation paper towels, millions of trees, gallons of water, and cubic feet of landfill space would be spared. I would say that for the extra few bucks this is a worthy goal.
