When we think of environmentally friendly energy we generally think of things like bio-fuels, solar power, wind power, wave power, etc. But I have began as late to think of it in a broader manner. One of the first sources of environmentally friendly energy comes from our own bodies.  The daily decisions we make and act upon are done so by means of our physical person, and so we leave our mark as we move through the world. In the case of fossil fuels, as we move through the world in our cars. When are able to limit, or even eliminate our car travel, or other actions that require fossil fuels, we have a significant impact on the environment. So, how does going to college fit into this?

Distance Learning is a Viable Form of Environmentally Friendly Energy

I am a huge supporter of distance learning. Now, I know that it does not compare to the physical classroom. Of this, I can personally attest. But if we think about it, distance learning is a viable form of environmentally friendly energy. When we eliminate the need to drive to campus, we lower our carbon emissions. Also, with distance learning we also reduce the amount of paper that is required for things like writing term papers and getting a syllabus. Now, obviously running our computers has an effect, but I argue that this use is offset by the fact that we are not driving, not using paper, and are not using campus facilities that require a sizable amount of energy to run. Not to mention the amount of teachers who are also able to teach remotely.

Applications for Environmentally Friendly Energy

Ecologically friendly energy has a myriad of applications in our day to day lives. Part of sustaining our planet and its living systems will come in thinking about how we can do our part in the practical elements of our lives, including our educations.
